History

The roots of the present company date back to 1863 with the founding of the J.W. Burke Printing Company in Macon, Georgia. The Burke Company continued as a printing and bindery leader in Macon and throughout Georgia until the late 1950’s.

The modern history of the company began in the early 1960’s with the closure of the Burke Company. Southern Press, Inc. purchased much of its equipment and incorporated many Burke employees and customers into their business. Several ownerships and name changes continued until the business was purchased in 1981 by Mercer University.

The present owners purchased the Company from Mercer University in 1987.

The Company was located at 1506 Hardeman Avenue in Macon, Georgia from the early 1960’s until it’s relocation in February of 2001 to our present facility on San Carlos Drive and continued to operate under the name Williams & Canady Printing.

Soon after moving, the management team made the decision to change the name of the company to better reflect the evolving business identity of the Company.Williams & Canady Printing, Inc. became Imedia, Inc. in August of 2001. Imedia’s new business tag line was implemented “print and information technologies”. Imedia, Inc. is now organized into four marketing divisions: iprint, idesign, ipublish and itech. We believe these different areas within the parent company communicate more clearly to our customers the scope of skills and services performed by Imedia.

A family owned business founded in the nineteenth century, Imedia, Inc. continues a family ownership tradition with a renewed focus for the twenty-first century.
